This February the most recent issue of Orthodontic Products magazine features four orthodontists who chose to form the first doctor-owned, doctor-led Group Practices in Kentucky, New York, and Virginia.
PepperPointe doctor partners Drs. Stan Ferguson, Andy Dusel, Norm Prillaman and PepperPointe founder and CEO, Dr. Greg White recently spoke with Orthodontic Products, sharing what led to the self-consolidation of three Group Practices and the creation of an alternative DSO model over the last 3.5 years.
“They all have one thing in common,” says Dr. White. “They absolutely believe in what they built. They believe in preserving their legacy. They believe in leaving this profession better than they found it, not worse.”
For doctor partner Dr. Norm Prillaman, being featured in this article has been a full circle moment. After reading the Orthodontic Products article How Do You Fight Off a DSO? Build Your Own. Dr. Prillaman reached out to PepperPointe and Dr. White, sparking a relationship that led to the formation of the first doctor-owned Group Practice in Virginia.
“For our staff, we’re the same happy family,” says Dr. Prillaman. “We’ve got some checks with different names on them and things like that, but the difference for me has been that I don’t have to worry. We have a support network. It’s just a real peaceful feeling.”
