The PepperPointe Perspective on the State of the Dental Industry
The only constant in the dental industry seems to be change, the largest change being rapid consolidation led by private equity, marked with confusion and controversy.
In this article, President and CEO of PepperPointe Partnerships Dr. Greg White shares his insights on the state of the dental industry, providing perspective on the growth of DSOs (Dental Service Organizations), the impact of private equity in dentistry, and making predictions for the future. Dr. White is one of the founding partners of White, Greer and Maggard Orthodontics, which formed in 1991, and is currently part of one of the largest, independently owned pediatric and orthodontic Group Practices in the country.
Dr. White is proving to be a visionary in the dental industry, specifically in his specialty, with a deep understanding of the market and the ever-increasing consumer demands. Prior to leading PepperPointe’s significant growth, Dr. White actively practiced orthodontics for nearly 30 years.
Founded in 2017 and based in Lexington, Ky., PepperPointe Partnerships is the only doctor-owned, doctor-controlled dental service organization (DSO). The unique DSO is committed to preserving true doctor ownership — at every level of the business — to protect personalized patient care. Through this patient-centered model, autonomy is maintained, and the heart and soul of each individual practice is preserved while doctor owners experience significant financial security from synergy, growth, and the collaborative network. Currently, PepperPointe serves more than 135 dental locations and more than 150 doctors throughout Kentucky, New York, and Virginia.
